Q: Does my new transmission still need the grounding straps?
Yes, no matter the stage of build, the 5R110 still needs grounding straps. We provide new ones with the transmission when it is shipped out. They MUST be attached on driver and passenger sides – going from bell housing to the vehicle frame.
Q: Is there any special programming that needs to be done?
While there is no special programming you need to do- you do need to use a scan tool to go into the TCM and select “CLEAR ALL TAPS” This will ensure the transmission can perform its relearn properly. If you are unable to do this, find a dealer or local shop that can perform this function for you.
